Send a Song

Use this screen when you want to share a single song with someone. You can choose exactly what to include — not just the score itself, but also audio, timeline data, annotations, settings for this song in the setlist, and per-song display settings. Start by deciding whether you are sending only a readable score or also its automatic page turns and display settings.

What to Decide on This Screen

• Whether to include per-song display settings
  • This option is only available when "Include settings for this song in the setlist" is on. Turning those settings off also turns this off automatically.

What to Include

Send Only the Score

If the recipient will add their own annotations, audio, or timeline, a minimal share is enough. You can leave out annotations, audio, timeline, settings for this song in the setlist, and per-song display settings.

Include Markings

Include annotations when the recipient should receive your fingerings, cuts, reminders, or other markings. Leave annotations out when they will mark up the score themselves.

Recreate Audio or Automatic Page Turns

For songs that rely on rehearsal audio, a click, synchronized playback, or automatic page turns, include audio and the timeline. The receiver can still remove audio or timeline in their import preview. If you want the recipient to add the song to a setlist with the same page range and tempo, include audio, timeline, and the settings for this song in the setlist.

Include Settings for This Song in the Setlist

This includes the current title, page range, tempo, time signature, audio start position, Conductor song number, and related settings so the recipient can add the song to a setlist. When these settings are included, the receive preview shows "Add song to a setlist" and asks where to add it. Leave them out when the recipient only needs the song in the library.

Include Per-Song Display Settings

Include display settings when this song has a custom zoom, display pattern, timeline visibility, text-page font size, or similar exception. Leave them out when the recipient should use their own device settings. This choice depends on the settings for this song in the setlist, so it is unavailable when those settings are off.

Current song sharing (.ppva) does not transfer Voice Count settings, even when settings for this song in the setlist or a timeline are included. Voice Count is off for the recipient; A/B/C bar selections are blank and the voice type is reset to its default. Configure these settings again after import if needed.

Include Tags

Include tags when the recipient should inherit your organization. Leave them out when your tags are only meaningful to your own library.

Send via QR Code

Tap "Show QR and start sharing" to display a connection QR code. The recipient scans it from the Receive Shared Data screen in PagePilot Viewer, and the transfer begins immediately. Use this when both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network and the recipient is nearby.

Send via Archive

If you need to hand off the file later rather than in real time, export an archive. Convenient when you want to send it afterwards via messages or cloud storage. Song archives use the .ppva extension. They are shared-data files, not full app backups (.ppbk).

When to Use This

• Sharing just one song with another musician
• Sending the same song — with audio and timeline — to your own other device
• Replacing a specific song rather than sharing the whole setlist
• Sending a prepared song, including display settings, to a rehearsal device

If You Get Stuck

• If the recipient cannot connect after you display the QR code, check that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network and that the app has been granted Local Network access.
• If an on-the-spot Wi-Fi transfer is not practical, use "Export Song Archive" to create a file and send it via AirDrop or cloud storage.
• If the recipient does not get the expected display or audio, check whether you included the settings for this song in the setlist and whether they kept "Add song to a setlist," audio, timeline, and display settings enabled in the receive preview.
• If Voice Count disappeared after sharing, this is expected for current .ppva shares. Turn Voice Count on again and reconfigure its A/B/C bar selections and voice type on the receiving device.
